January 2022

Happy New Year! And congrats for making it through 2021 in one piece.

We’ve all been through a lot— and some of the weirdness of our current situation is showing up in our speech. People have lost a sense of flow; there are lots of choppy, disjointed sentences being uttered out there. Read my blog this month to find a creative way to smooth out your delivery.

It’s My Party! just ended its month-long run at Dallas’ Echo Theatre. The cast and creative team made my play about the struggle to pass the 19th Amendment come alive onstage. Echo is streaming it as video-on-demand till October 17th. Click here for more info and tickets.

"With its strong production values and casting, It’s My Party! should foster talk well after the curtain call. The show should inspire audiences to explore this history and then perhaps fight for equal rights today as they had to do a century ago."

We’re all tempted to fire off responses lickety-split these days, or engage our mouths before our brains over Zoom or IRL. But just because we can, does that mean we should? This month’s blog post gives a memorable tip for remembering to “just stop.”
