Acting the part

My clients always give me something interesting to chew over. This month's blog reflects a recent discussion dealing with actors and authenticity.

Selections from my play It's My Party! will be featured in A Night of Suffrage Theatre at the home of the National Woman's Party, the Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument.

What happens when two different factions ignite political change using wildly different tactics? It's My Party! reveals the competing strategies, daring stunts, shaky alliances, and bitter rivalries that propelled the suffragists' march toward the 19th Amendment.

Back in the Big Apple!

My blog this month catches you up a bit on what I have been doing since I moved to Brooklyn in August--aside from unpacking (which I am assured will come to an end eventually!): lots of walking and listening and learning!

In other news...

In July my short play In the Ladies' had its world premiere at Arena Stage as part of the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. It was one of one-acts in How's That Workin' Out For Ya?, an evening of subversive comedy presented by Pipeline Playwrights. We sold out each show and had a great time!

We're planning more readings and productions of new plays in the coming year. If you're not on Pipeline Playwright's e-mailing list, and would like to be, send me an e-mail. I'll be sure we add you!

Sage advice takes center stage

This month I blog about the fact that useful advice can be found where you least expect it: a Broadway musical set in forgotten Israeli backwater, for example! In The Band's Visit the messages are powerful and the music sublime; listen to the cast recording—you won't regret it!

In other news...
This summer (mid-August, actually) I am moving with my family to New York. When my husband and I moved to Arlington, Virginia from Brooklyn 26 years ago, we hoped someday we might head back.  We were given an opportunity to return, and we're taking it!

I plan to come back to the DC area to run workshops, as well as half-day and whole-day coaching sessions. And in-person, individual client session whenever it's feasible. The bulk of individual sessions will shift to the video chat platform, which I am already successfully using. So local clients needn't worry: I'll be just a screen away!

I am so grateful to all who have recommended me to friends and colleagues over the years. And I hope you will introduce me to any contacts in the New York/New Jersey area who could benefit from my coaching or training.

...and be sure to join me for
